MICRO PROGRAM OVERVIEW
The Arkansas Rush Micro program provides an opportunity for kids to play soccer in the age groups U5 through U8. Over 400 children participate in this division each Spring and Fall. The objective of Micro soccer is to foster in each child a love for soccer in a relaxed, non-competitive environment. Emphasis is on teaching the true basics (“Which way is your goal?”), FUN-damental soccer skills, sportsmanship, and team play. This program is not about winning and losing games. Players should be given as many touches on the ball as possible in both practice and games. Small-sided games, such as 3v3 for U5 and U6 and 4v4 for U7 and U8, allow this to happen. Our goal is to develop a love for the game, skills at all player positions and assist each child to reach their best potential.
Micro teams have a ten week schedule that includes one practice and one game per week at Centennial Park Soccer Complex in Conway. Games are intramural only and usually occur on Saturday mornings (typically between 8am and 1pm). Registration for the Fall season is held in July and August, with the season beginning in September. Registration for the Spring season is held in January and February with the season beginning in March.
Micro teams are led by volunteer parent coaches who will be supervised by our Director of Operations. As a "thank you" for coaching, the club gives each coach a $50 discount on 1 player's registration in the fall, and a full discount in the spring when the coach returns from the fall season.The AR State Soccer Association requires that all Arkansas Rush volunteers must pass a background check before they are allowed to coach or work with our players. The cost to play in our 10 WEEK season of Micro Soccer is $90.
This fee includes two uniform t-shirts in the fall season. Players returning in the spring, from the fall season of the current year, will use the shirts they received in the fall. New players in the spring will receive t-shirts. An end-of-season player participation medal or trophy will be handed out by the coaches for both the fall and spring seasons. The fee also covers all player participation expenses including field usage fees, registration and insurance costs. Financial Aid is available to qualifying participants.
